Who Gets Remembered? The Forgotten Women of Republican Chinese Art
Asks why women who worked as artists in Republican-era China were later forgotten. The paper argues that institutional choices accumulate into historical absence — legitimacy in art is produced by institutions — and that recovering individual names is not enough: the narrative of art history itself has to be rethought.
